When You Can't Sleep...
Simply ask for the Spirit to bring rest and peace to you.  No need to turn to substances and depressants. No need to turn on the TV. No need to turn on the radio. Breathe in. Breathe out. Rest in the fact that right now, at this very moment, the Spirit of the Lord is pleased with you. Any worries should melt away. For tomorrow has enough worries of its own. In this moment, you are home.

Meditations
God is so much bigger than just a church… He is building a global movement and invites us into that movement as a beloved child of God justified and clothed in the righteousness of Christ: forgiven forever, clothed in grace. He wants us to believe we are completely saved.  He invites us to partake in fulfilling the Great Commission through our respective churches and ministries but also wants...

Christ Alone is Sufficient
Having this mentality prepares us for so much more. There are no preconceived notions of how God will choose to work in your life. When you can confess you deserve nothing, everything becomes a blessing. So whatever God chooses to do in your life is good, regardless of if it is comfortable or not. This is full acceptance and surrender. Christ + anything else is not the gospel. Christ Alone is...

David Foster Wallace on Worship
This, I submit, is the freedom of a real education, of learning how to be well-adjusted. You get to consciously decide what has meaning and what doesn’t. You get to decide what to worship. Because here’s something else that’s weird but true: in the day-to-day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody...

Proverbs 3 --
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge him, and He will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. Do not despise the Lord’s discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproofs him whom he...

'No on Prop 8' from Pastor Benjamin
The title of my post may sound strange to you. In fact, I’ve been hesitant to even share my opinion on this matter because I am clearly in the minority among Christians on this topic. But the events of the past two days have birthed in me a deep sense of urgency for the future of Christianity in America. The problem with American Christianity is that we have become an anti-movement. We are...

The Value of Solitude
God, I am SO okay with being alone. There is unparalleled value in solitude.  You speak so clearly in these times. I have nothing to fear.

Romans 3:20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather through the law we become conscious of sin.

Art vs. Entertainment
I like to watch movies alone because I don’t view them as mere entertainment — I view it more as an art form. When I am with others I can’t focus as much and it bothers me — guess this makes me a snobbish filmgoer… or maybe just a serious filmlover.

Cherish
Those moments you walk in step with God and the Spirit are to be cherished, for when the wind blows and your attention is diverted, it can be a while before you get those moments back.

Promise Vs. Cost
If the promise is clear but the cost unclear it could be temptation. If the promise is unclear but the cost clear it could very well be the Holy Spirit.

Eph 6:13-18
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can...

Jesus Take the Wheel
She was driving last Friday on her way to Cincinnati On a snow white Christmas Eve Going home to see her Mama and her Daddy With the baby in the backseat Fifty miles to go and she was running low On faith and gasoline It’d been a long hard year She had a lot on her mind and she didn’t pay attention She was going way too fast Before she knew it she was spinning On a thin black sheet of...
