Anytime I feel a strong emotion what I should do is Pray.
Anger
Fatigue
Loneliness
Happiness
Sadness
Apathy
In all seasons, all circumstances, I should remain connected to Him.
Sometimes the best way to pray is to just sit and listen. When I shut up, He can begin to speak.
Any relationship built upon ‘rescuing’ the other person doesn’t lead anywhere good.
There is only one Savior. His name is Jesus. He moves through everyone’s lives through the Holy Spirit.
All else are unworthy substitutes. Me included. You included.
There is no rescue unless it is found in Him.
Walking down Broadway on a Friday night, I have no more doubts.
God is doing something great in Downtown Oakland.
Now let’s bring that down to the 100s.
(The Golden Sequence, Opiate Mass)
Come Holy Spirit,
Come Light of Our Hearts,
Come Giver of Gifts,
Enter our Heart.
Cleanse all that is filthy,
Water all that is parched,
Straighten all that is crooked,
Redeem all that’s defiled.
Mend all who are proud,
Heal all who welcome it.
And give grace to the trusting,
Virtue it’s reward,
Joy to the morning,
Faith like a child,
Safety in the end,
Lasting peace within.
//
Come, holy Ghost, and bring from above The splendor of thy light.
Come, father of the poor, come, giver of graces, Come, light of our hearts.
Best of consolers, sweet guest of the soul, And comfort of the weary.
Thou rest in labor, relief in burning toil, Consoling us in sorrow.
O blessed light, fill the innermost hearts Of those who trust in thee.
Without thy indwelling there is nothing in man, And nothing free of sin.
Cleanse what is sordid, give water in dryness, And heal the bleeding wounds.
Bend what is proud, make warm what is cold, Bring back the wayward soul.
Give to the faithful who trustingly beg thee Thy seven holy gifts.
Grant virtue’s reward, salvation in death, And everlasting joy. Amen. Alleluia.
There’s strange freedom in committing to something.
So my future is set. I don’t need to worry anymore.
When I have made my choice, everything else is off the table. Then God can begin to move within these constraints. And I go deeper.
Deeper, not wider. A new feeling. A good feeling.
Moralistic legalists view repentance as a means to avoiding God’s wrath. Liberal relativists view repentance as unnecessary. Both views are mistaken. So is the incorporation of both, swerving from repentance out of fear to not repenting at all. This third view is perhaps the most dangerous, for it…
Clear description of repentance. I pray I can repent out of humility and not pride nor shame.

Oh! Great is Our God!
//
Oh! Great is Our God! So we should worship greatly!
No song is too loud! No orchestra too stately
To hail the majesty of our King,
So lift your voices loud as we sing!
*
Oh! Great is our God! So let our songs be endless!
So awesome His ways, how could we comprehend them?
So we will make it known to our kids.
And we will sing about the gracious gifts You give.
*
We will sing Your praise And pour forth Your fame
We will bless Your name
Let everyone give thanks, because our God is great!
*
Oh! Great is Our God! And we cannot contain it!
We sing from our souls, affected by His greatness!
His mercy covers all He’s made,
Showing his glory and grace.
In the midst of a lot of angst, I am comforted by God.
I am experiencing peace that surpasses understanding.
Wow.
